School board congregates for summer session

Posted

While Cascade schools have emptied out and Cascade students have dispersed to camps, vacations and the pool, the Cascade School District school board are still tasked with some homework. The crew, along with exiting Superintendent, Bill Motsenbocker, and soon to be Superintendent Tracey Beckendorf-Edou, gathered for the school board retreat on June 20 at the Icicle Creek Center for Arts.
Situated in the breathtaking Canyon Wren Recital Hall, the board and superintendents rattled off ideas and exchanged visions for the upcoming school year, 2019-2020. A blank canvas sat in front of the group, propped up and ready for notes to be scrawled out.
Some areas touched on was the mission statement, the school board's visions and even deciphering the school colors. Motsenbocker shared some feedback from interviews with the schools' staff. Different tangents were considered for the board goals for the 2019-2020 school year. It also was a chance for Beckendorf-Edou to infuse herself into the mix of the school district and school board before she officially takes over on July 1.
No action was taken at the retreat.
