LEAVENWORTH — AlpenGlow, a DJ-driven dance party for a cause, has always been an experience dedicated to pure celebration, bringing together community, music and movement.

On July 24, it will return with a special purpose: celebrating the life of its founder, Joaquin Levett, who passed away unexpectedly in late April. Known by many as DJ Goodcat, Levett had a passion for bringing people together through music.

“He put so much time and effort into AlpenGlow, bringing this to the community and helping DJs in the area. I just wanted to see it through for him,” said friend and organizer Shea Miller.

The recurring event at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts (ICCA) features local DJs for a night of high energy beats under glowing lights. Proceeds from the event traditionally benefit ICCA’s arts education fund, supporting the next generation of artists.

“He wanted to bring something to the community that just really was rooted in dance and expressing yourselves, while helping these DJs get more exposure and supporting them,” said Miller.

Despite Levett’s absence, organizers say his spirit continues to inspire every beat, dance move, and connection made on the dance floor. As the first AlpenGlow event since Levett’s passing, the night will be an opportunity for attendees to show their love and boogie down the way he would've wanted it. To make the celebration accessible to everyone, this year’s party will be open for all ages to enjoy.

“Joaquin really loved living here. He had an incredible support system and community around him that he loved so much,” said Miller. “I hope he's stoked that this is still happening for him, and that I hope people come out and party down for our boy.”

Proceeds from the July 24 night will go towards Levett’s young son Kellen, helping support his exploration of the arts and creative pursuits as he grows.

According to Miller, future AlpenGlow events will benefit a scholarship made in Levett’s (DJ) name — the Goodcat Scholarship — supporting youth interested in pursuing the arts through ICCA’s summer camps.

AlpenGlow will be held at ICCA’s Snowy Owl Theater on July 24 at 7 p.m. The night will feature DJ Myztic, DJ Alex P, DJ Zeus, and DJ Abe Martinez. Tickets and information can be found at icicle.org.
