WENATCHEE. — The WSU Chelan-Douglas Master Gardener Program will host a backyard fruit tree pruning workshop March 7 at the WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee.
The workshop is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center, 1100 N. Western Ave., and is designed to teach backyard fruit tree owners when, why and how to prune.
The session will include classroom instruction followed by hands-on pruning in a nearby orchard. Tips for restoring a neglected fruit tree will also be covered.
The cost is $10. Participation is limited to 25 people and registration is required. Attendees are advised to dress for the weather and wear shoes suitable for walking on uneven orchard ground.
