LEAVENWORTH – The Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce’s annual Carving for Causes fundraiser is now accepting bids in an online silent auction featuring handcrafted chainsaw carvings. Bidding will end Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m.
Proceeds from this year’s action will benefit the Chelan County Fire District #3 Volunteer Firefighters Association, a nonprofit providing fire protection services to the Leavenworth community, and the Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition, a non-profit promoting forest restoration and wildfire resilience through collaboration with residents to make Leavenworth a fire-adapted community.
Bidding is anonymous, and ties will be resolved through a random drawing. The carvings are on display at the new Willkommen Center, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This year’s featured carvings include Nick Bielby’s Bear Portrait, Garrett Aries’ Owl & Owlets, Alex Pricob’s Horse at Water, George Kenny’s Bear Meets Beehive and Colby Herrington’s Heron in the Water.
Last year’s fundraiser raised nearly $5,000 for local nonprofit organizations.
