LEAVENWORTH — Cascade High School graduate Adilene Castaneda-Rodriguez has been recognized for her leadership by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA).
Cascade School District Superintendent Dr. Tracey Edou presented the WASA Student Leadership Award to Castaneda-Rodriguez during the July 20 school board meeting.
“Across all areas, academics, leadership, athletics, and service, Adi consistently demonstrates initiative, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to enriching the future of her school and community,” Edou read aloud from counselor Meche Grace’s nomination.
“She leads not only through position but through example: uplifting others, building inclusive spaces, and inspiring growth in those around her.”
Castaneda-Rodriguez was one of three Class of 2026 valedictorians, graduating with college-level credits from Eastern Washington University, the University of Washington, Wenatchee Valley College and Big Bend Community College.
As the MEChA Club President and founder of UNIDOS Club, Castaneda-Rodriguez was recognized for her initiatives to promote inclusivity, cultural awareness, and equity within her school community. She brought the same commitment to roles as Associated Student Body (ASB) co-president and treasurer, helping to guide student voice and decisionmaking at the highest level of student government.
“You’ve brightened up many board meetings,” said CSD Board Chair Trey Ising. “Part of ASB is representing the student body for the school board, so we've been able to get to know you very well over the last couple of years.”
Her leadership and mentorship extended into athletics and community service, where she was the Girls Soccer Captain, a Leavenworth Soccer Club coach, and logged over 200 service hours recognized by Rotary Club of Leavenworth.
Castaneda-Rodriguez said the award felt like a testament to her hard work to make an impact in her school community over the years. She credited her AVID teacher, Malia Renner-Singer, for encouraging her to take on more leadership roles.
“Cascade High School has a really good sense of community. I feel like being in those leadership roles and being a leader really brought me out of my shell. Eventually, I want to be an administrator. Maybe even here, who knows?” said Castaneda-Rodriguez.
