CASHMERE — Cashmere FFA announced qualifying results from recent district and state competitions while also preparing for its annual spring plant sale, which will be held online and in person this year.
The chapter’s online plant sale opens May 3 at 6 p.m. The in-person sale is scheduled for May 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cashmere FFA also posted strong results in recent competitions, including district and state events.
At the District Creed Speaking Contest on March 25 at Chelan High School, Cashmere students earned three of the four state qualifying berths. Camryn Harnden placed first, Ayden Gasbar was second and Izzy Thomas finished fourth. The students will compete at the state contest May 16 in Pullman.
In a separate event, five Cashmere freshmen placed first through fifth individually in the first ninth-grade Environmental Natural Resources competition. Callen Pipkin won the event, followed by Christian Kim in second, Camryn Harnden in third, Ryan Thayer in fourth and Etta Deason in fifth.
At the State FFA Environmental Natural Resources competition April 13 at the Stanwood Fairgrounds, Cashmere FFA teams placed first and second among 22 teams. According to the chapter, it marked the seventh consecutive year Cashmere has won the state ENR title.
The first-place team qualified for the national competition in Indianapolis this fall.
Seven Cashmere members finished in the top 10 individually out of 105 competitors. Gloria Smith was state champion, followed by Millie Flick in second, Oscar Green in third, Alex Batanoiu in sixth, Slade Tukey in seventh, Cooper Smith in eighth and Colton Bjorklund in ninth.
