Chelan County seeks volunteers for ‘Against’ Committees in February election

Posted

WENATCHEE – The Chelan County Auditor’s Office is seeking residents to serve on “Against” committees for ballot measures in the February 11, 2025, Special Election Local Voters’ Pamphlet.

“Against” committee members are needed to write against statements for Cascade School District No. 228 and Manson School District No. 19.

According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing the measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. The districts did not appoint committees to write arguments against the measures, so the County Auditor is seeking individuals to serve on those committees.

The Local Voters’ Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.

Committee members are required to be residents of the district in order to draft arguments and at least one person must be willing to be named in the voters’ pamphlet as a member of the committee.

Interested residents can submit arguments or express their intent to serve by emailing auditor@co.chelan.wa.us or calling 509-667-6808 to arrange in-person submissions. Detailed submission guidelines and deadlines can be found on the Chelan County Elections website at Elections.ChelanCountyWA.gov.
