Community Treasure Hunt Raises Funds for Local Schools

LEAVENWORTH - The Cascade Education Foundation (CEF) is set to host the much-anticipated Charm Walk on Saturday, September 23, in downtown Leavenworth. This whimsical treasure hunt coincides with the Autumn Leaf Festival and promises a day of delightful discovery and community engagement.

The Charm Walk, running from 10 am to 4 pm, offers participants the chance to embark on a charming adventure through Leavenworth's local shops to find unique charms for their bracelets. CEF board chair, Karen Turner, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "The Charm Walk is a local favorite that appeals to kids, parents, residents, and visitors alike." This year, 24 businesses have eagerly contributed to the event, aiming for a triple win - attracting new customers, delighting participants, and supporting CEF's mission to fundraise for Cascade School District students.

All proceeds from the Charm Walk will directly benefit Cascade School District students, providing much-needed supplies and teacher grants for innovative programs. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CEF is dedicated to supporting the evolving educational needs of the Cascade School District, particularly during these challenging times when the pandemic has hindered traditional fundraising efforts.

To participate, individuals can visit CEF's booth at the gazebo on Saturday, September 23, where they can sign up for $20 (cash, check, or Venmo). Each participant will receive a bracelet and a map to guide them on their charming quest. A wide variety of quirky charms, including a teacup, toucan, whale, apple tree, fish with pastel scales, copper flower, and dragonfly, among others, will be available at participating shops.

For those who wish to preregister, a Venmo payment of $20 per person to @CascadeEdFoundation with the note "Charm Walk" will secure their spot. If unable to attend but still want to support CEF's cause, donations can be made via Venmo or by mailing a check to CEF, PO Box 683, Leavenworth, WA 98826.

Earlier this summer, the eight-member CEF board engaged the community as Recreation Ambassadors through the Chamber of Commerce to raise funds. Later this year, CEF will award grants to teachers, with the application window open until November 1st. Additionally, CEF is actively seeking new members for its board, with a particular need for individuals to enhance the organization's social media presence. Parents of Cascade School District students are also encouraged to join the board or volunteer core to ensure a strong connection between CEF and the classroom.
