County launches free voucher program to help residents dispose of flood debris

Posted

CHELAN COUNTY — Chelan County is launching a free flood-debris disposal voucher program to help residents and businesses affected by recent flooding safely dispose of damaged materials, county officials announced.

The program begins on Dec. 23 and provides qualifying property owners with vouchers that can be used to dispose of flood-related debris at designated county solid-waste facilities at no cost. The vouchers are intended to reduce barriers to cleanup while helping prevent illegal dumping and other environmental impacts following the flooding.

To be eligible, residents and businesses must first complete the 2025 Individual and Business Damage Assessment Form. County officials said the assessment helps emergency managers document disaster impacts and determine eligibility for assistance programs.

Only flood-related debris qualifies for the free voucher program, so materials and items that do not meet the program’s criteria will be subject to standard disposal fees.

Chelan County officials emphasized that the voucher program is part of a broader flood-recovery effort and encouraged affected property owners to review detailed guidance before hauling debris. Additional information, including qualifying materials and disposal locations, is available through the county’s Flood Debris Disposal Program webpage.

The county will continue to update residents as recovery efforts progress. General information and updates are available on the Chelan County website and the county’s Facebook page.
