LEAVENWORTH — Drivers on US-2 west of Leavenworth should expect travel delays and detours over the next two weeks as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) performs work in Tumwater Canyon.
The agency said it will be replacing temporary pavement and guardrails along this stretch of highway throughout the month.
From mileposts 90-99 in Tumwater Canyon, the highway will have single lane closures between the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m July 7- 9.
WSDOT says that the highway section will experience a full closure starting around 6 a.m. on July 13. The highway is expected to reopen around 6 a.m. on July 16.
Chumstick Highway will be available as a detour during the closure. However, oversize loads and loads beyond 26,000 pounds of GVW are prohibited on Chumstick Highway and should use Interstate 90 instead.
Questions about the closure can be directed to WSDOT North Central Regional communications: 509-667-3077.
