Eastside Cycleworks to host 3rd annual bike swap

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — Eastside Cycleworks will host its third annual bike swap on March 21.

“With everything costing more these days, this is a great opportunity to score a used bike. It’s especially nice for newer riders who might not know exactly what they want or need,” said Eastside Cycleworks owner Pat Donahue. “They can purchase a used bike in a controlled environment facilitated by people who deal with bikes all year.”

The bike swap will have used mountain bikes, road bikes and kids bikes for sale. The bike shop will also be offering 10 percent off storewide, with additional discounts on select items.

The swap will be held at 215 14th Street in Leavenworth, starting at 9 a.m. and running until 5 p.m. on March 21. According to Donahue, the community dropped off 80 bikes for the swap, with approximately 300 people in attendance.

Donahue added that the swap is also an easy way for bike owners to unload a used bike without the hassle of online marketplaces.

Bikes can be dropped off during business hours starting March 15 through March 20. Eastside staff will work with consignors to price bikes. According to the shop, consignors will receive 80 percent of the sale price for bikes over $1,000, 75 percent for bikes priced between $300 and $999, and 70 percent for bikes prices $299 and under. Consignors can receive 90 percent of the sale if they choose to receive their payout in store credit. Eastside staff say bikes must be in safe, rideable condition. If bikes do not sell, consignors can pick them up by March 28. Bikes left with the shop after that date will be donated.
