Ellyn Margaret Parkins

Posted

Ellyn Margaret Parkins was born in North Dakota on May 23, 1941, to Josephine and Hugh McKenna. As a young girl she moved to Bellingham, Washington where she graduated high school and loved to roller-skate.

She married Henry W. Parkins in Snoqualmie, Washington on Jan. 6, 1962 and moved to Leavenworth where she had lived ever since.

The most important thing to Ellyn was her family. She put them before herself and instilled family values. She loved fishing with her family where she would bring a book and put a pole in the water (without any bait) just enjoying the peacefulness of being together.

Anyone who knew Ellyn would recognize her contagious laugh and loved her unique sense of humor. Ellyn had a green thumb and loved working barefooted in her garden and flower beds.

Ellyn now resides with the angels which she so loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Henry, children Colleen, Teri and Michael, grandchildren Ryan, Tasha, Talen, Karlee, Jacob, Blake, Jeremy, Taylor and Jessica. She had three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Hugh McKenna, her siblings Lloyd and Muriel, and one granddaughter Kiersten.

At Ellyn’s request, there will be no service held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in Ellyn’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.

Ward’s Funeral Chapel Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.
