FEMA disaster assistance center opens in Leavenworth for flood recovery

Posted

LEAVENWORTH —  A disaster assistance team will be in Leavenworth for two weeks in May to help people and families applying for individual and household assistance related to the December 2025 flooding and windstorm.

In Washington, FEMA assistance is available to individuals and households across 10 counties affected by December’s flooding, including Chelan County. Those who have sustained losses from flooding should first file claims with their insurance providers, then apply for federal assistance. Applications can be completed at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or by using the FEMA App. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is June 10.

The Disaster Assistance Center will be established at the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce office, located at 940 US-2, Suite B. It will be open weekdays from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 11-15 and May 18-22.

The center will have representatives from FEMA and the Washington State Emergency Management Division to help answer questions about the application process.

Those who have received Washington State Disaster Assistance must report that assistance to FEMA to avoid duplication of benefits. Not reporting may delay the FEMA application or result in FEMA requiring repayment of funds. Questions can be directed to case managers or the State Disaster Recovery Hotline at 833-719-4981.

As a reminder, the U.S. Small Business Administration also has low-interest federal disaster loans available to Chelan County businesses, private nonprofits and residents to offset physical and economic losses from the December flooding event. The deadline to return physical damage applications has passed. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Nov. 24. More information is available on the Chelan County Emergency Management website.
