LAKE WENATCHEE — Firefighters put out a structure fire that started near the north shore of Lake Wenatchee on Monday morning.
Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue’s (LWFR) smoke cameras begin showing a plume of smoke from the incident at approximately 8:30 a.m. Shortly after, the fire department reported via Facebook that it was responding to a structure fire near the north shore of Lake Wenatchee.
According to an LWFR update, buildings and a shop with fuels and equipment were involved in the fire. Firefighting efforts were supported with help from Chelan County Fire Districts 3 and 6, as well as a K-Max pilot overhead.
Just before noon, LWFR reported the fire was contained and that it would be on scene throughout the day. Chelan County Emergency Management cancelled its Level 2 evacuation order, which had been in effect for north of Lake Wenatchee Highway, Brown Road, Fir Drive, Maple Drive, Bruce Lane, Byron Lane and Lakeview Drive.
A GoFundMe was created to support the Dickinson family, the owners of the property. In just a few hours, the fundraiser collected over $1,100.
“This morning tragedy struck the Dickinson family when a fire destroyed their shop — the heart of their livelihood. In just a matter of hours, they lost everything they had worked so hard to build…The Dickinsons are known in our community for their hard work, kindness, and generosity. They’ve been there for others in times of need — now it’s our turn to be there for them,” wrote GoFundMe organizer Emily Elkins.
