Flood damage repairs begin on Icicle Road

LEAVENWORTH — Road repair on Icicle Road will remove rock and landslide debris remaining from the December 2025 storm starting Sept. 9.

The work will occur at milepost 7.9 near Eightmile Campground and will include ditch cleaning, culvert replacement, and asphalt repair. Contractors expect to complete all repairs within two to three weeks.

Recreation sites will remain open and accessible throughout the project. However, campgrounds will close for the season on Sept. 27.

Traffic control and flaggers will be on site, with delays of up to 20 minutes expected for drivers traveling to areas beyond the work zone. Work will occur only on weekdays. While the timing is yet to be determined, a temporary full-day closure may be required during culvert installation.

The storm‑damage cleanup and repair project is funded by the Federal Highways Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads program, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
