Fundraiser at Icicle Brewing to aid Ski Hill trail restoration

LEAVENWORTH — The Central Washington chapter of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is seeking the community’s help in clearing storm debris and restoring trails at Leavenworth Ski Hill.

The organization said December’s historic storm resulted in dozens of downed and uprooted trees, blocked corridors and damaged tread. So far, the below-average snowpack year has enabled crews to get an early start on clearing and restoring the trails.

The scale of destruction is significant, and restoring Ski Hill will take real time, real effort, and real resources,” Central Washington EMBA shared in an online update. “We want to give a huge thank you to Tom Ford and the dedicated volunteers who have already begun the restoration process.”

The organization estimates the clean up efforts will cost approximately $20,000, which covers tools, materials, professional support and “countless volunteer hours needed.”

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance plans to host a “Ski Hill Storm Recovery & Spring Stoke Night” at Icicle Brewing Company on March 18, where community members can learn about and support the recovery effort. The evening will celebrate the 15th anniversary screening of Leavenworth-based mountain bike documentary “Pedal-Driven,” rally volunteer support, and share spring riding stoke. Additionally, 25 percent of event proceeds will go towards trail restoration at Ski Hill. The event goes from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
