LAKE WENATCHEE — Multiple fundraisers have been created for residents who are continuing to manage the financial impact of the December storm that brought severe flooding to the upper valley.
Wildflour Chef Duncan Hoaglan, who’s home and property flooded during the storm, has been facing the financial aftermath of storm-related damages and missing work as a result of the event, said coworker Alana Estacio. Additionally, Hoaglan’s dog Moose is in need of surgery to address a worsening eye condition.
“My coworkers and I were talking about it and how we wanted to do something to help,” said Estacio. “He’s just a really cool person that’s so kind and giving.”
Estacio set up a GoFundMe titled “Help Chef Duncan and Moose Recover Together,” with a goal of raising $1,100. As of Jan. 16, the fundraiser has raised $200.
Additionally, five separate fundraisers have been ongoing for those displaced from their living situations at the Village in Lake Wenatchee, which experienced some of the most severe flooding in the upper valley. The aftermath left residents facing repair costs, hazardous living conditions, or complete displacement.
“In a matter of hours, I lost not just my housing, but my sense of stability and security. I'm currently trying to secure safe, temporary housing and cover basic living expenses while I figure out next steps. The funds raised will go directly toward emergency housing, deposits, and essential needs as I work to rebuild,” resident Hector Ruiz wrote on his GoFundMe.
A landing page was created for the multiple ongoing fundraisers for Village residents: paa.ge/voicesofthevillage. To donate to Hoaglan’s GoFundMe, visit: https://gofund.me/06f9cad0f.
