Remembering Joaquin

There are some people whose lives cannot be measured by dates, accomplishments, or the number of years they were here.

Joaquin was one of those people.

His name, Joaquin, carries the meaning “God will establish.” Perhaps what matters most is not what he established in the traditional sense, but what he established in the hearts of those who knew him: love, friendship, music, memories, and connection.

Those who knew Joaquin described him as sincere, loving, genuine, and a wonderful friend. But the words that may capture him best came from Joaquin himself.

On the night he passed, he told his girlfriend and his son:

“I always have a lot of love to give.”

That was Joaquin.

He believed there was always room for more love, more friendship, more people to welcome in, more music, and more memories to make.

Music was his passion. Being a DJ was his dream, and it was so much more than something he did—it was part of who he was. He had an incredible knowledge of and love for music. Through it, he connected people, created memories, and brought something of himself into every room he entered.

But beyond the music, Joaquin was a dad. His children—Corina, Theo, and Kellen—were central to his life and will always be part of the legacy he leaves behind. The love he gave them and the memories they carry will continue long after this moment.

Joaquin’s life was about connection, authenticity, strong friendships, and music.

He had lots of love for everyone.

And now, that love remains—in his children, in his friends, in his music, and in every person who carries a piece of Joaquin forward.

So when you find yourself missing him, do something Joaquin would understand.

Find your favorite song.

Turn it up loud.

Let it fill the room. Let yourself dance, sing, cry, laugh, or simply close your eyes and remember. Let the music take you back to a moment, a feeling, or a memory.

Because music was his language. It was his passion, his dream, and one of the ways he brought people together.

So don’t remember Joaquin quietly.

Play the song loud.

And somewhere in that music—in that moment, in the memories, and in the love that remains—Joaquin will still be there.
