Julie Ellen Farmen

Posted

Julie Ellen (Reed) Farmen was born on February 13, 1963, in Selma Alabama. She died on August 23rd, 2024 in Port Orchard Washington.
Julie grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan where her parents Doug and Barbara Reed taught school in the Wyoming Public School system. Julie put her faith in Christ as her savior as a young adult and her faith was paramount in all that she did. She graduated from Wyoming Park High School in 1981 and attended Grace Bible College (Grace Christian University) where she got an associates degree and then went to Grand Rapids Jr College’s dental hygiene program. In 1986 she married Ken Farmen and began a new role as a pastor’s wife. She and her husband served at Cascade Mountain Bible Church from 1988-1999. She also practiced dental hygiene in the Leavenworth office of Dr. Smith and Dr Schiefbein.
Julie was a sweet, sensitive person with a huge heart for others. Her Dutch heritage showed itself in her frugal nature, work ethic, hospitality and giving spirit. Her gift giving was her joy. She would shop all year to provide the best gifts for all of her family members, church workers and friends. She exemplified Proverbs 31, “A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
We are devastated by her loss but know that through her faith in Christ she entered into His presence when she departed this earth.
Julie is survived by her husband, Ken Farmen, her children, Layne Farmen from Tulsa OK, Claire Hawley from Shelton WA, Molly Farmen from Port Orchard WA and Patrick Farmen from Port Orchard WA, and grandchildren Leland Farmen, Elián Farmen and Elizabeth Hawley. Two sisters, Brenda Pugh of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Diane Carrouth of Fort Mill, South Carolina.
There will be a memorial service on September 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard, WA 98366.
“Oh death where is your sting? Oh grave where is your victory. The sting of death is sin, the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Our sweet Julie is experiencing that victory.
