LEAVENWORTH – Kenzie’s Landing will be the next destination in the Hike for Health event series, a free outdoor program co-organized by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and Columbia Valley Community Health.
Held once each month from March through September, the guided hikes encourage community members to explore North Central Washington’s natural landscapes while learning about the connections between time spent outdoors and overall wellbeing. The July hike is scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at 7 a.m.
Open to hikers of all ages, the program provides attendees with the opportunity to learn about the plants, wildlife and history of the land of North Central Washington. Organizers also incorporate short mindfulness activities and work to educate participants on the mental, physical, and emotional health benefits associated with spending time in nature. Guidance is offered in both English and Spanish.
Participants who attend the hikes may enter in raffles for health and outdoor-themed prizes. Those unable to join the group at the scheduled time may still earn a raffle entry by submitting a photo of themselves completing the trail independently.
While start times vary throughout the season depending on the location, hikes generally last about two hours and conclude at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Registration is encouraged, but walk-up participants are welcome.
Leashed dogs will be welcome at the Kenzie’s Landing hike. Attendees should note the policy for the presence of dogs at each trail prior to attendance.
