Leavenworth Reindeer Farm having babies and taking names

New baby names to honor iconic Bavarian Village locations

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — Spring is the season when reindeer start having their babies, and two newborns have already arrived at Leavenworth Reindeer Farm - Baby Gustav (named after Leavenworth's famous onion-domed pub, Gustav's Grill and Beer Garden) and Baby Whistlepunk (named in honor of Leavenworth's own Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co.).

More babies are still on the way at Leavenworth Reindeer Farm and the family-owned operation has announced that all 2024 newborns will be given names that honor iconic sites, themes and things to do around the beautiful mountain town of Leavenworth.

In the past, new babies might receive names from favorite movies - Sven and Elsa, for example, were inspired by the movie 'Frozen.' Others were named based on their individual circumstances, such as Yeti, born last year with a pure white coat.

That's all changing now. "We adore this beautiful place we call home and we adore every new baby on the farm. It seemed like a natural fit to start giving them names that reflect the best of Leavenworth," said Erika Bowie, general manager.

Leavenworth Reindeer Farm is open to ideas, as well. If you have a favorite Leavenworth spot that you think would make a great moniker for one of the new arrivals, drop it in the comments at @leavenworthreindeerfarm on Instagram or Facebook.
