Leavenworth seeks applicants for housing advisory committee

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — The City of Leavenworth is asking local residents to apply for an open position on its Housing Advisory Committee, starting in late February.

The Housing Advisory Committee is a citizen advisory board created to seek out housing opportunities for middle housing (80 to 120 percent of Area Median Income). It comprises two city council members and volunteers appointed by the mayor. The committee is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations to Leavenworth City Council on how to spend city funds devoted to housing, options for funding land purchases and/or the construction of housing, housing development projects that request city funds, and infrastructure improvements that promote housing options.

The city is looking to fill one position for a two-year term ending in January 2028. Potential candidates must be registered to vote, reside within city limits, and have lived within city limits for at least one year.

The committee meets at 3 p.m. at City Hall on the fourth Thursday of each month; meetings typically last between one and a half to two hours, and may extend longer for specific topics.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest via email, mail, or in-person by 4 p.m. on Feb. 6. Letters should be addressed to:
