LEAVENWORTH– The City of Leavenworth is seeking volunteers to apply for open positions on the Planning Commission, beginning in June, and the Housing Advisory Committee, a citizen advisory board, beginning in May. The position on the Planning Commission was previously held by Kenny Renner-Singer, and the positions on the Housing Advisory Committee were previously held by Luke Dixon and Tracie Smith.

Planning Commission: The Planning Commission is responsible for long-range planning and legislative policy recommendations to the City Council. Planning Commissioners help achieve the community’s vision by developing the goals and policies of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and through updates to the Leavenworth Municipal Code and Shoreline Master Program. The City is looking to fill one (1) position which will serve the remainder of a four-year term (ending April 2027). Potential committee members must be registered to vote, reside within City limits, and have lived within City limits for at least one year. The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the first Wednesday of each month. Regular meetings typically last 1.5 to 2 hours, though they may extend longer due to specific topics.

Housing Advisory Committee: The Housing Advisory Committee is tasked with reviewing and making recommendations to the City Council on how to spend city funds devoted to housing; options for funding land purchase and/or construction of housing; housing development projects that request city funds; and options for infrastructure improvements that promote housing options. The City is looking to fill two (2) positions. Potential committee members must be registered to vote, reside within City limits, and have lived within City limits for at least one year. The Housing Advisory Committee meets at 3:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the fourth Thursday of each month. Regular meetings typically last 1.5 to 2 hours, though they may extend longer due to specific topics.

Interested parties who meet the qualifications are invited to submit a letter of interest via email, mail, or in person by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 9. Letters of interest shall be submitted to:
