Leavenworth Summer Theater celebrates ‘The Sound of Music’ anniversary with alumni reunion

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — Leavenworth Summer Theater (LST) will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its flagship production, “The Sound of Music,” with a special alumni reunion weekend this summer.

Every year, the Leavenworth Summer Theater, a nonprofit professional musical theater company, produces three Broadway-scale musicals in the heart of Leavenworth. With performances at the Ski Hill Amphitheatre and Leavenworth Festhalle, the organization says it draws around 20,000 guests each season.

“The Sound of Music” has been Leavenworth Summer Theater’s most enduring production, captivating summer audiences against the backdrop of the Cascades for the past three decades. In celebration, the theater company is inviting former cast members, crew and creative staff to return to Leavenworth July 30 through Aug. 2 for a weekend of performances, gatherings and sharing of memories.

“The Sound of Music has always been the heart of what we do at Leavenworth Summer Theater. Bringing together the alumni who have made this show so extraordinary over the past 30 years is something truly special — a celebration not just of a production, but of a community,” said LST Executive Director Christy Shearer.

The reunion is free to attend, but alumni are encouraged to RSVP by May 31 at www.somreunion.com. Performance tickets must be purchased separately, according to the theater company.

In addition to “The Sound of Music,” this season will feature “Anything Goes” and “Bright Star.” Tickets for all three Leavenworth Summer Theater performances go on sale June 1. They can be reserved online at www.leavenworthsummertheater.org, or by calling the box office at (509) 548-2000.
