Leavenworth Village Voices seeks new singers

LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Village Voices (LVV), a long-running community choir known for its holiday performances, will host its annual Season Opener Picnic at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Lions Club Park in Leavenworth.

The event serves as both a reunion for returning choir members and an introduction for prospective singers interested in joining the group for its upcoming season. Food and beverages will be provided by current members, and newcomers are encouraged to attend as guests.

Founded in 1982, the Leavenworth Village Voices is a non-profit community choir that performs throughout the Christmas season, contributing to the town’s Bavarian-themed festivities. The choir’s activities include the “Christmas in the Mountains” concert series, small group caroling in downtown Leavenworth, and performances at assisted living facilities, charity events, and for private tour groups.

There are no auditions required to join. While music-reading skills are helpful, they are not necessary. The choir provides sheet music and practice tracks to help members learn their parts. Rehearsals begin Monday, Aug. 18, and will be held weekly from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at New Life Church, 7591 US Highway 97 in Peshastin.

Mindy Wall returns as director, bringing years of experience teaching middle and high school choirs, as well as musical theater. Accompanist Nick Colletto will also return for the new season.
