LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Village Voices is inviting prospective members to attend its annual Season Opener Picnic on Aug. 17 as the community choir prepares for its 2026 Christmas season.

The picnic will begin at 6 p.m. at Lions Club Park in Leavenworth and offers an opportunity for interested singers to meet choir members, learn about the organization and ask questions before rehearsals begin.

Founded in 1982, the Leavenworth Village Voices is a nonprofit community choir that performs throughout the Christmas season, contributing to Leavenworth's Bavarian holiday celebrations. In addition to its annual "Christmas in the Mountains" concert series, the choir performs at local festivals, sings carols downtown in small groups and presents concerts for bus tours, hotel guests, assisted living facilities and charitable events.

The choir does not require auditions, and formal music training is not necessary. While the ability to read music is helpful, sheet music and practice tracks are provided to help members learn their parts.

Director Mindy Wall returns to lead the choir, bringing years of experience teaching middle and high school choirs, voice and musical theater. Nick Colletto also returns as accompanist.

Weekly rehearsals begin Aug. 24 and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays at New Life Church, 7591 U.S. Highway 97 in Peshastin.

Prospective members are invited to attend the season opener picnic as guests. Current choir members will provide food and beverages.

More information about the Leavenworth Village Voices, including concert dates, is available at www.leavenworthvillagevoices.org or on the organization's Facebook page.
