Leavenworth’s winter parking regulations begin Nov. 15

Posted

LEAVENWORTH – Leavenworth’s winter parking regulations go into effect this month, limiting street parking during overnight hours to help keep roads clear through the snowy season.

From Nov. 15 to March 15, parking is prohibited between noon and 7 a.m. in the city’s residential areas, regardless of weather and winter conditions. According to city code, vehicles cannot be left on the street or “within three feet of the paved surface” during this window. Violators may receive an infraction from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office of $100. Additionally, vehicles cannot impede pedestrian travel on sidewalks within city limits.

In commercial zones, vehicles cannot not be left on the street or in a parking space between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Overnight parking in most commercial areas is prohibited year-round, with some exceptions.

The seasonal restrictions are intended to keep streets clear for snow removal throughout the winter months. According to city code, vehicles that interfere with snow removal on city streets and alleys may also be towed and impounded.
