WENATCHEE — A coalition of local health, recovery and advocacy organizations will host a public town hall in Wenatchee next month focused on overdose trends, recovery resources and community response efforts in North Central Washington.
The free event, titled Beyond the Numbers: A Community Discussion on Overdoses & Recovery, is scheduled for June 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Pybus Public Market. No pre-registration is required.
Hosted by Thriving Together NCW in partnership with the Chelan-Douglas Health District and other organizations, the event will bring together professionals, community leaders and people with lived experience for presentations and a moderated public question-and-answer session centered on substance use and recovery.
Participating organizations will include the Chelan and Douglas county coroners’ offices, the North Central Washington Behavioral Health Advisory Board, the Center for Drug and Alcohol Treatment and CAFÉ, alongside members of the recovery community.
According to the organizers, the discussion is intended to reduce stigma, share local overdose data and connect residents with available recovery and support services.
“It’s important for communities to mobilize around both the data and the human stories behind it,” said Joseph Hunter, recovery advocacy manager at Thriving Together NCW. “Understanding local overdose trends alongside real stories of recovery helps break down stigma, builds empathy, and reminds people that recovery is possible when support systems are in place.”
The event is supported by Carelon Behavioral Health and is open to community members, families affected by substance use, educators, healthcare professionals, service providers and others interested in learning more about local recovery efforts.
