WENATCHEE — The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is hiring seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging local residents to apply.
Job announcements are expected to open as early as Feb. 20 and close on or around March 3.
The forest is recruiting for positions across all six ranger districts. Information about available positions is posted on the forest’s website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/okanogan-wenatchee/working-with-us/careers. The seasonal openings are separate from fire-related seasonal hiring events that are already underway.
“Summer seasonals help keep campgrounds open, maintain trails, and prepare timber sales in support of active forest management activities,” said Forest Supervisor Tara Umphries. “These positions support important work and services on the forest, including management of world classes resources such as The Enchantments and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.”
According to the Forest Service, seasonal positions can serve as an entry point into natural resources careers or provide an opportunity to gain experience while working outdoors during the summer months.
Applications must be submitted through USAJOBS.gov. Information about Forest Service careers, benefits and upcoming hiring events is available on the agency’s website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/working-with-us/careers.
