Pine Street expected to be nearly completed for 2019-2020 school year

    The week of May 20 kicked off with several council members and Mayor Farivar gathering at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 20 to approve the Pine Street reconstruction bid to Strider Construction Co., Inc.
    With four bids, the city selected the lowest bidder - Strider Construction offered a bid of$1,862,522.25. According to Joel Walinski, city administrator, the engineer who estimated bids to be between $1.8 million and two million so Strider Construction was on the lower end.
    "Strider Construction is a fairly large company. One of the things we will have to do is make sure they put the resources toward the project," said Walinski. "It's a pretty tight timeline, 44 days. So we'll make sure they put the resources forward and don't spread themselves too thin."
    Mayor Farivar stated the goal is to have the project 95% completed for the 2019-2020 school year. According to city documents, the project will start June 17.
    This project will include two 11 foot travel lanes, a five foot sidewalk on the south side of Pine Street, upgraded school crossing flashing beacons, replacement of 740 feet of water main, on street parking, ten foot multi use pathway and stormwater treatment and conveyance system.
