LEAVENWORTH — A snowmobiling accident in the Mo Ridge area, roughly 12 miles from Eagle Creek Road SnoPark, resulted in one fatality and one injury on Feb. 22, according to Sheriff Mike Morrison. RiverCom dispatch was alerted to the incident around 2:00 p.m. after a rental company received information from a rider at the scene.

Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Chelan County Fire District 3, Cascade Medical Center, and Airlift Northwest responded. Two air medics were transported to the site by Fire District 3, arriving approximately at 2:45 p.m. to attend to the victims. A 51-year-old woman suffered severe chest and leg injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old girl sustained leg injuries.

Investigations revealed both victims, who were from the Seattle area, were on the same snowmobile when it veered off the trail and descended an embankment, colliding with a fallen tree. The impact caused fatal injuries to the older victim.
