Splash Bash at Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool cancelled for 2025

LEAVENWORTH — The second annual Summer Splash Bash at the Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool has been cancelled. The community pool party was scheduled for the afternoon of Aug. 23.

Upper Valley Aquatics Boosters (UVAB), who coordinated the event, announced the cancellation via Facebook, but did not provide a reason.

“We wanted to let you all know that unfortunately, we will not be hosting Splash Bash 2025 this year. We look forward to setting up a great event at the beginning of the pool season for 2026 and seeing you all there!” the group wrote on the event’s page.

The first Summer Splash Bash event was one of the first initiatives of UVAB. The group formed last spring to build support and awareness for the pool, whose future hinged on the renewal of a Park and Recreation Service Area (PRSA) levy. The pool party included a BBQ, cold treats, and pool games, and was free to PRSA residents, which encompasses Leavenworth, a portion of Peshastin and Chumstick Highway.

Building on the success of the first community pool party, UVAB decided to bring the event back for a second year with additional support from the City of Leavenworth, and the Park and Recreation Service Area Board (PRSA), with additional support from München Haus, Waste Loop, and Thrivent. However, repair challenges pushed the pool’s opening date back significantly, thus pushing the pool party to late August.

While the pool party’s return will have to wait until 2026, UVAB has been making progress as an established organization. It recently formed a board of directors and is focusing on two key priorities: improving ongoing operations for the current pool and supporting the development of a year-round aquatics facility.
