OLYMPIA - The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will convene a virtual Fish Committee meeting later this month to address coastal steelhead management and future planning initiatives.
The meeting, scheduled for Nov. 21 at 10 a.m., will focus primarily on preparations for the upcoming coastal steelhead season and establishing committee meeting dates for 2025.
Officials will present updates on coastal steelhead season planning efforts, which operate under the state's Statewide Steelhead Management Plan. The plan mandates prioritization of wild coastal steelhead population sustainability through monitoring of abundance, productivity, diversity, and distribution metrics.
The governor-appointed commission, which serves as the policy-setting body for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), will conduct the meeting via Zoom. Public access will be available through the Commission's website.
Officials confirmed the session will be recorded and subsequently posted online for public viewing.
The meeting's agenda includes detailed discussions of fishery management strategies, which can be reviewed on WDFW's coastal steelhead management webpage. The session will conclude with preliminary planning for the committee's 2025 meeting schedule.
For more information about coastal steelhead management and fishery regulations, interested parties can visit the department's dedicated webpage.
