LEAVENWORTH — Tierra Learning Center announced that it will open a groomed Nordic ski track for both skate and classic skiing this winter. Once snow begins to fall, the trails will be groomed seven days a week. The loop, located on Tierra’s hay fields, stretches approximately 1.6 kilometers.
According to its website, the Field Loop will offer a relatively flat loop with a wide skate lane and set classic tracks. The loop offers views of Tierra from the valley. No dogs or walking will be allowed on this trail.
Tierra’s additional Bridge Trail will be packed by snowmobile and open to snowshoeing, walking and classic skiing. It is relatively flat, but users should expect some spots that require maneuvering. The trail features a forested section and a segment on plowed road, with the road finishing alongside a plowed road; users should be prepared for patches of variable conditions. Dogs are allowed on the Bridge Trail, but Tierra Learning Center asks that they are kept under control and waste is picked up.
