LEAVENWORTH — The City of Leavenworth is gearing up for its annual Autumn Leaf Festival and Parade, scheduled for Saturday, September 28. The event, a highlight of the local calendar, will result in significant traffic disruptions along US Highway 2.
According to city officials, US 2 will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. between Chumstick Highway and Mill Street to accommodate the Grand Parade. The closure coincides with the parade's duration, set to run from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Authorities have announced that flaggers will be stationed at the intersection of US 2 and Chumstick Highway to manage traffic flow, as the traffic signal at this junction will be deactivated for the duration of the parade.
Motorists seeking to access downtown Leavenworth during the closure period are advised to use an alternative route via 14th Street to Commercial Street.
The City of Leavenworth has directed residents and visitors to their official website for more comprehensive information about the event and related traffic arrangements.
As the community prepares for this seasonal celebration, local businesses and residents are advised to plan accordingly for the temporary road closure and expected increase in foot traffic in the downtown area.
