Tulalip Terminal area opens for Salmon fishing season

OLYMPIA - The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced the opening of the Tulalip Terminal Area for salmon fishing from May 24 through September 2. The area, located west of Tulalip Bay and within 2,000 feet of shore from the pilings at Old Bower's Resort to a fishing boundary marker approximately 1.4 miles northwest of Hermosa Point, will be open to recreational salmon fishing on a weekly schedule.

Anglers will be allowed to fish for salmon between 12:00 a.m. Friday morning through 11:59 a.m. Monday morning each week. The area will be closed from 12:00 p.m. Monday through 11:59 p.m. Thursday each week, with an additional closure on June 1 to accommodate tribal ceremonial fishing.

The daily limit for salmon is two (2) fish, with a minimum size requirement of 22 inches for Chinook salmon. There is no minimum size limit for other salmon species. Anglers with a valid Two-Pole Endorsement will be allowed to fish with two poles in the Tulalip Terminal Area during the open season.

The decision to open the Tulalip Terminal Area for salmon fishing was made in agreement with co-managers during the 2024-2025 North of Falcon season setting process. This process involves negotiations between state and tribal fishery managers to determine sustainable fishing opportunities for both commercial and recreational fisheries.
