LEAVENWORTH — Families in the Upper Valley will have two opportunities to celebrate Easter with community egg hunts the weekend of April 4–5, as events in Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee invite children and volunteers alike to take part in the seasonal tradition.
The Leavenworth Lions Club will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday, April 5, at Alpine Lakes Elementary. The event is scheduled to begin promptly at 1 p.m. and run until 1:30 p.m.
Open to children ages 1 to 12, the free event encourages participants to bring baskets and take part in the hunt. Organizers say the Easter Bunny is also expected to make an appearance.
Additional details about the Leavenworth event are available on the club’s Facebook page.
The Lake Wenatchee Rec Club will hold its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 4, at its clubhouse, 14400 Chiwawa Loop Road. The event begins at 11 a.m. and is open to children ages 10 and younger.
Organizers are planning a large-scale hunt this year, with a goal of preparing 6,000 eggs filled with candy and surprises. The effort is supported through community donations and volunteer participation.
“Every dollar helps us create a fun, memorable day for our local families,” the organizers posted on Facebook.
In addition to monetary contributions, the group is accepting donations of eggs, candy and cookies in the week leading up to the event. Community members are also invited to participate in planning meetings and egg-stuffing gatherings ahead of the hunt.
The Lake Wenatchee event is organized in partnership with Plain Community Church, the Ponderosa Social committee and other local supporters. Organizers estimated that about 150 children attended last year’s event.
Those interested in volunteering or sponsoring the Lake Wenatchee hunt can contact Michelle at 509-860-3220.
Together, the two events highlight a weekend of family-friendly activities in the Upper Valley, offering residents and visitors a chance to gather, celebrate and welcome the Easter season.
