LEAVENWORTH — Washington state's longest-running open-air juried art show will launch its 59th season next month, continuing a tradition that has become a cornerstone of the Leavenworth community.
Village Art in the Park will open Friday, May 2, in downtown Leavenworth's Front Street Park, showcasing the work of more than 60 rotating artists throughout a season that runs every weekend from May through October.
The free event features a diverse collection of fine arts and handmade works, including painting, sculpture, jewelry, woodworking, photography, and ceramics. With different artists participating each weekend, organizers say visitors can expect a unique experience with each visit to the Bavarian-themed village.
"We're proud to continue this incredible legacy of supporting the future of the Arts in the Upper Valley by connecting our local and regional artists with the thousands of visitors who come to Leavenworth each year," said Village Art in the Park Board President Laura Hansen. "Village Art in the Park celebrates community, creativity, and the power of the Arts to inspire and bring people together."
The non-profit organization behind the event maintains a mission to "produce and manage a quality seasonal art attraction in Leavenworth as a means to support art education and continued development of the Arts in our community."
Proceeds from the art show support multiple educational initiatives, including grants to local schools and tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for students pursuing studies in the arts.
The event's long-standing presence in the community—spanning nearly six decades—has established it as a significant cultural institution in Washington's art scene.
