Waste Loop continues Leavenworth's Earth Day Fair tradition

Posted

LEAVENWORTH - Waste Loop, a local environmental organization, is set to host the annual Earth Day Fair on Sunday, April 21, at Enchantment Park. The event, which will run from 11 am to 4 pm, carries on the long-held tradition of the Leavenworth Community Earth Day Fair, first established in 2009 by LIFE2, a project of the Wenatchee River Institute.

"LIFE2, for a More Sustainable Leavenworth," was responsible for initiating several community projects, including the E. Lorene Young Community Garden, the Leavenworth Community Farmers Market, and Think Local First. The organization's name paid tribute to the original LIFE (Leavenworth Improvement For Everyone), which was instrumental in establishing Leavenworth's iconic Bavarian Theme in the early 1960s.

Waste Loop has been hosting the Earth Day Fair at Enchantment Park for the past three years, and the event has grown each year through the efforts of Waste Loop staff, volunteers, and event sponsors. The Fair serves as a platform for the community to come together and celebrate the value of environmental sustainability while recognizing the work of organizations and individuals who are actively promoting sustainable practices.

Attendees can expect a FREE, fun-filled day for all ages, featuring food, local vendors, educational booths, music, and activities such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and story time. The live music lineup promises to get everyone dancing, with performances by the Chumlilies, Small Town Strings, and Global Heat.
