Wenatchee River Institute seeks members for board

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — Wenatchee River Institute is seeking three volunteer board members to join its team.

The local nonprofit organization’s mission is to connect people, communities and the natural world. It provides environmental education programming at its Leavenworth campus and across North Central Washington, including workshops, Bird Fest, and youth camps, and more.

The board recruitment aims to replace an expiring term and add two additional positions, growing the board to 12 members. The board is responsible for the organization’s strategic oversight, fiscal oversight, community engagement, and commitment to inclusion.

WRI is seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds and professional experience, who are “team-oriented, bring a spirit of humility to their service, and are eager to work collaboratively to enhance WRI’s visibility, fundraising capacity, and long-term sustainability.” The commitment is a 3-year term with the opportunity for renewal. The board meets monthly, and requires members to serve on at least one board committee.

The applications will remain open through mid-September. Interviews will be conducted from September to mid-October. The board will review and select candidates during the November board meeting. New members will begin their roles following a January board orientation. More information about how to apply can be found on WRI’s website.
