WENATCHEE — Registration has opened for the annual Spring Writers Conference organized by Write On The River, scheduled for May 29-31 at Wenatchee Valley College.
The event, titled “Ink in Bloom,” will feature professional presenters from across the Pacific Northwest offering writing classes, keynote presentations and opportunities for writers to receive feedback on their work.
According to the organization, the conference will include 10 presenters teaching 16 classes during the three-day event. Attendees will also have opportunities to pitch their work to acquiring agent Katie Reed, receive first-page reviews from editor Elena Hartwell, and schedule one-on-one sessions with writing coach Lindsay Schopfer.
The conference is open to writers of all experience levels, including high school-age participants.
Events begin May 29 with “Friday Night Writes,” a first-lines gathering at the Wenatchee restaurant Touch of Soul. The main conference programming takes place May 30 and includes an opening address, four class sessions and a keynote lunch with Schopfer. A vendor area and book sales will also be available during the event.
The conference concludes May 31 with a master class led by author and pitch consultant Fitz Cyr, followed by a public book event where attendees can buy and sell books, meet authors and obtain book signings.
Featured presenters include Derek Sheffield and Dan Gemeinhart, along with additional instructors from the region.
Early registration discounts are available through March 31. Conference details, presenter biographies and registration information are available at the organization’s website.
Write On The River President Melissa Campbell said the event is intended to support writers at various stages of development.
"We've built a community that takes every voice seriously, and our Spring Conference reflects that: a weekend of craft, community, and the real business of getting published. Whether you've written your first sentence or your tenth novel, this is for you. . . . Right here, write now."
