WENATCHEE — Wenatchee Valley College will commemorate National Vietnam War Veterans Day with a special ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the war's end.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center on the college's Wenatchee campus. College officials said the ceremony aims to honor the service and sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans and nurses.
Local dignitaries expected to attend include Wenatchee Mayor Mike Poirier and East Wenatchee Mayor Jerrilea Crawford, who will present 50th anniversary pins to qualifying veterans in attendance.
The commemoration will feature wreath-laying and flag-folding ceremonies, a prayer for the fallen, recognition of Vietnam-era nurses, and information about resources addressing PTSD, Agent Orange exposure, and suicide prevention.
Musical performances will be provided by the Wenatchee Valley Symphony and the Wenatchee Apollo Club. The Color and Honor Guards from the Wenatchee Valley VFW and the American Legion will present colors during the program.
The event represents a collaborative effort between Wenatchee Valley College, American Legion Post 10, and VFW Post 3617.
