Clarence Franklin ("Frank") Ramsey

Clarence Franklin Ramsey, “Frank” passed away on May 16, 2020 at the age of 63.  He was born on October 25, 1956 at Military Region Camp Kure, Kure Japan to John Clarence Ramsey and Toshiko (Jeannie) Ramsey. He had 4 siblings; John, Eddie, Rebecca & Lisa.  At the age of 5, the family moved stateside. He graduated in 1974 From Denbigh High VA. He then enlisted in the Army serving as Medical specialist for the 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1977. Frank relocated to the San Diego area, studied Fire Science at Miriamar College and entered into his career as a firefighter and paramedic. He met the love of his life Leslye, and married Dec 27, 1980 in Escondido CA.  They had 4 children; John, Jessica, Jennifer, and James. In the early 90s the family moved to Grangeville, Idaho. Franks took a career switch to wildland, working for the Slate Creek Ranger Station.  He transferred to the Methow Valley Ranger District in 2002 and the Leavenworth Ranger District in 2003 where he retired in 2013.  Frank had a passion for fire service and a skill set to match. He spent 33 years on the Fireline, traveled to 17 states and 3 countries.  He worked as a T3 Incident Commander, Division Sup, T1 Complex Burn Boss, Air Attack Group Sup, Initial Attack Crew Superintendent, and achieved many other accomplishments in his professional career. He was well loved by his crews and peers, remembering his confidence and sense of humor. He was a great father, husband and friend. He explored his love of motorcycles in retirement and spent time with his family and grandkids. In his last years he was cared for by his wife and his health declined. Frank is survived by his wife, Leslye Ramsey, and children: John Ramsey, Jessica Piestrup, Jennifer Ramsey & James Ramsey; his grandkids: Haylee, Jasmine, Claire, Bobby, Dylan, Vance & Elenore.
