PUD #1
FACILITY: LAKE WENATCHEE
POTW
Chelan County Public Utility
District (PUD) #1 has applied for a
renewal of combined National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination
System (NPDES) and State Waste
Discharge Permit No.
WA0052094 for Lake Wenatchee
Publicly Owned Treatment Works
(POTW) in accordance with the
provisions of Chapter 90.48
Revised Code of Washington
(RCW) and Chapter 173-220
Washington Administrative Code
(WAC), and the Federal Clean
Water Act. Chelan County PUD
No. 1 presently operates a
wastewater treatment plant which
is designed to handle a monthly
maximum flow of .0467 (winter
operations) and .052 (summer
operations) million gallons per day.
The wastewater, following
treatment, must meet the
requirements of the Washington
State Water Pollution Control Act
and applicable regulations for a
permit to be issued. Following
evaluation of the application and
other available information, a draft
permit has been developed which
would allow the discharge of
treated municipal wastewater to a
maximum of 46,700 gallons per
day from November 1 to May 31 to
the Wenatchee River at River Mile
53.6 and to a seasonal maximum
of 9.335 million gallons from June
1 to October 31 to a sprayfield
from its facility located at 21251
State Route 209, Leavenworth,
WA. All discharges must comply
with the Department of Ecology’s
Water Quality Standards for a
permit to be issued. A tentative
determination has been made on
the effluent limitations and special
