The Greater Leavenworth Museum

Is excited to kick off their 2023 programs with a special event at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts Snowy Owl Theatre on Thursday, April 27. Rollie Schmitten will be presenting his newest book - Greater Lake Wenatchee Area History - including stories and photos from the areas from Tumwater Canyon to Stevens Pass, including Lake Wenatchee. RSVP for this free event, and reserve a copy of his new book, at www.leavenworthmuseum.org. The event will run from 7-8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Books will be available for sale before and after the event, along with a book signing and Q&A with Rollie.

Women’s Exchange Lunch

The Leavenworth Women’s Exchange monthly luncheon meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 12 p.m. at the Icicle Inn Restaurant, 505 Highway 2, Leavenworth. The cost is $23 per person. Lunch buffet, beverage, tax, and gratuity are included. Bonnie Orr, Chelan Douglas Master Gardener, will present a program titled “Zones and Other Gardening Questions”. Check or cash to LWE only. Since this is a catered event, any cancelations after May 4 will be responsible for the cost of the lunch. Leavenworth Library

The Cascade High School Advanced and AP Artists will have an art show at the Leavenworth Public Library in the Fireside Room from April 25 through May 19. There will be a wide variety of media- painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital art. The student artists are in grades 9-12 and have been exploring styles, cultures, and history through visual imagery. Some artwork will be for sale.

Join us for Storytimes, with stories, songs, and fun, at the Leavenworth Library on Fridays at 10:15 -10:45 a.m. for Baby Laptime with Amy. 11- Noon for Preschool Storytimes with Gracie. 3:15-4 p.m. for Community Storytime chapters in the Fireside Room with Gracie.  Art Class for Adults including Gelli Printing. Registration is required online at www.ncwlibraries.org/Leavenworth. Tuesday, May 2, 6 - 8 p.m. If class fills, join the waiting list for a future class. Meet the Beekeeper: Hives and Swarms. Learn how to nurture bees in your backyard, how to deal with swarms, and how "No Mow May" has benefits for insect habitats with Emily Harbury. Saturday, May 6, Noon-1 p.m. in the library.  "Migration" bird-inspired art show in May. Submissions of art, sculpture or writing are welcome until April 29.

“Pick-Up” time on Thursday, May 4 or Friday, May 5^.  The “In-Person” Sale will be Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 4.p.m.

Cultivate joy and wellness at our Women's Retreat

Empower yourself with practical skills for creating and sustaining joy and wellness at our Ease into Spring Women’s Retreat for cancer survivors May 12-14 at Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort. Most of us live braced mentally, emotionally, and physically against constant signals of stress in our day-to-day lives. It is essential to periodically retreat from the rigors of daily life to allow ourselves to rest, reset, and learn new skills that will support resilience and create a more peaceful, healthy, and joyful life. Neuroscience research suggests that feeling happy and joyful will create and strengthen neural pathways that support a positive outlook on life.

This three-day retreat at Leavenworth’s Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort empowers women who have received a cancer diagnosis to embrace survivorship as a life practice by teaching practical skills for cultivating joy, health, and whole-person wellness in day-to-day life. Through journaling, creative expression, gentle movement, and educational talks, EASE Cancer Foundation’s faculty will guide each participant in creating their own personalized, sustainable wellness plan.
