GladSong returns to Apple Blossom Festival on May 5

Posted

WENATCHEE - The community inspirational choir, GladSong, is set to kick off its 2024 season by returning to the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in Wenatchee's Memorial Park on Sunday, May 5. The concert, scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m., will take place on the stage between the festival food booths and the Chelan County Courthouse.

GladSong, known for its diverse repertoire spanning pop, country, jazz, and gospel genres, previously performed at the Apple Blossom Festival in 2022. The group's 32-song setlist includes popular hits such as Manhattan Transfer's "Operator," Steven Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle," Chicago's "Make Me Smile," The Beatles' "Got to Get You Into My Life," and "Evidence" by Josh Baldwin, Ed Cash, and Ethan Hulse.

Under Tim Meyer's direction, GladSong has been instrumental in helping charities raise over $111,000 since its formation in 2021. All proceeds benefit the charitable organizations for which the choir performs. The choir resumed weekly rehearsals on March 3, following a three-month winter break.

Gene Sharratt, president of Wenatchee's Kindness Counts Club, praised the group during their introduction at the final 2023 concert on November 4, stating, "They are absolutely fantastic. … This group loves what they do, and they do it so well." The event at Wenatchee High School Commons raised more than $2,000 for the school's Random Acts of Kindness Club.

Following the Apple Blossom Festival performance, GladSong has a lineup of benefit concerts scheduled throughout the summer, including performances at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center, Grace Lutheran Church for Mobile Meals of Wenatchee, the Wenatchee National Guard Armory for North Central Washington Veterans Serving Veterans, the Leavenworth Red Barn for the Wenatchee River Institute, and Eastmont Community Church for the North Central Washington Chaplain Foundation.
