Kodiak runners win big in shortened season

Cascade High School's boys and girls teams had strong finishes to the season. Both teams won the CTL League Championship on March 25, and then on April 5 the boys team won the North Central Washington Regional Championship and the girls team placed 2nd behind Wenatchee.

Senior Landon Davies placed 2nd overall in the boys race, running the 5k course at Walla Walla Point Park in 16:29. Following him were team members Junior Owen Bard, sophomore Aiden Tuttle, junior Derek Richardson, sophomore Anthony Villalobos, and senior Jerome Jerome.

Junior Lauren Muscutt placed first overall in the girls race, sprinting to the finish past Wenatchee's McKenna White, the only girl to beat her this year, finishing in 19:43. Senior Zoe McDevitt was right behind in 4th place, followed by team members freshman Paige Nunnally, senior Celeste Villalobos, and sophomore Tillie Leroy.

Five Cascade runners were named to the Boys All Conference Cross Country First Team for the Caribou Trail League; Landon Davies, Owen Bard, Aiden Tuttle, Anthony Villalobos, and Jerome Jerome.

Two runners were named to the Girls All Conference Cross Country Girls First Team; Loren Muscutt and Zoe McDevitt.

Coach Dale Massey was named Coach of the year.
