LEAVENWORTH – Upper Valley Empty Bowls will have its annual soup supper on March 27, wrapping up another season of fundraising for Upper Valley MEND’s Community Cupboard.
The annual fundraiser invites community members to paint bowls during its “glazing days” in January, which are glazed and returned during the soup supper in spring. The fundraiser also showcases and auctions bowls created by local artists.
The online artist bowl auction is currently live, featuring 21 bowls and platters designed and created by local artists and potters. The bowls will be on display throughout downtown, including Kris Kringl, Der Sportsmann, Ganz Klasse! Posy Handpicked Goods, The Plant Ally, A Book for All Seasons, Inside & Out, Mountain Modern, and Remedy Forest & Home. The auction is open until 10 p.m. on March 26.
The Community Soup Supper is on March 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Festhalle. Those who painted a bowl earlier this year can come pick up their bowl and enjoy soup made by local restaurants. The event will include a raffle for bowls painted by talented local students. Those who missed the glazing days can still join for the soup supper. Tickets for the dinner and raffle can be found on the organization’s website.
All auction and ticket proceeds will go to the Community Cupboard. Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement by artists and craftspeople around the world to care for and feed the hungry in their communities.
